*Nils Büttner is Professor of Art History at the Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Stuttgart. Since 2021, he has been chairman of the Rubenianum Centre (Research Centre for Flemish Art 16-17th^Century, Rubens House, Antwerp). He is the author of 'Bruegel, the painter of peasants and saints' (Amsterdam, Meulenhoff, 2019). He specialises in the visual culture of Germany and the Netherlands from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century. He has published monographs and articles on Bosch and Bruegel, as well as on the history of drawing and printmaking.
